Sue Clark: I first met Hayley when she was voicing the weekly podcast for The Economist magazine. She phoned me up for guidance as she was eager to turn her rich ideas into radio programmes.
I was really happy to support her through the commissioning process and we quickly began pitching her ideas to the various BBC networks. She displayed an eagerness to learn and had some novel angles for her stories. She is very professional in the way she researches and plans her ideas.
Hayley made her producer debut for Sue Clark Productions in 2015; a Radio 4 documentary 'Pete & Clive' about the long and little known about song-writing partnership of Pete Atkin and Clive James.
She has an enquiring mind, has developed her skills quickly and often asks unusual questions, plus she never takes NO for an answer. Her tenacity is inspiring and she has been able to secure big names to contribute to her radio programmes.
Listen out for her latest documentary ‘The Raw Pearl Bailey’ for BBC Radio 2 presented by Hollywood great, Morgan Freeman. She continues to do great work as a radio producer and I look forward to hearing more of her ideas hit the airwaves.
By the way, she has a wicked sense of humour and also makes excellent fudge in her spare time - lucky interviewees are usually treated to a bag!
Hayley loves to travel as well as finding time to develop a fascinating career. Her experiences began at University receiving a BA Honours 2:1 degree in Theatre Arts & Performance; she worked at London Fashion Week for Alexander McQueen and acted as an Interior Designer on projects Worldwide. She has been a Music Agent and PR, as well as working in Film and TV production for many years. She travelled with performers to Jazz Festivals worldwide and helped launch the career of singer/songwriter Imelda May.
As a freelance writer, radio producer, presenter and voice-over artist, she has worked for: Somethin' Else & Wise Buddah Productions, RIGtrain, BBC Surrey & Sussex, BBC Solent and Jazz FM. Hayley won a Gold Award for 'Best Specialist Music Programme' at the National HBA Awards 2013 for The Story of Jimmy McHugh.
Her work has included; producing podcasts for The Economist Magazine; production of a monthly podcast for London Jazz News and reported from The London Jazz Festival 2014 for Serious; as well as reporting on live breakfast shows for BBC Radio Solent in Dorset. Since 2015 she has collaborated with Sue Clark Productions in writing, producing and presenting Music Documentaries for the BBC Radio network, specialising in Music, Theatre and Comedy entertainment.
All of this varied experience lends itself to creating ideas that she can craft into informative, quirky and always entertaining radio and audio content.
Hayley has recently written and produced The Raw Pearl Bailey presented by Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman for BBC Radio 2, which will be broadcast on Easter Monday, April 2nd 2018 at 10pm. It's already generating a buzz from those who know it's soon to air!
